Mokume Gane is a Japanese technique of layering metal. Each piece has multiple layers of alternating colour combinations of metal. The metal is rolled thin and a design is punched on the back. The raised bumps are then filed to reveal the contrasting metal layers from behind. After making the Mokume Gane sheet it is then used to fabricate the jewellery.
